SENDZOVO GUIDE

Get Started With Sendzovo

From adding your first sending domain to sending transactional email and monitoring delivery, this guide walks through the essential Sendzovo setup from start to finish.

How Sendzovo Works

Sendzovo is a transactional email platform for applications and websites. You authenticate a domain, choose SMTP or the Email API, send your messages, and use Sendzovo to monitor delivery and recipient health.

Email API

Send transactional messages over HTTPS using a Sending API key.

SMTP

Connect existing applications and SMTP-compatible software without rebuilding your mail integration.

Email Verification

Check recipient addresses using Sendzovo's verification tools and dedicated Verification API credentials.

Delivery Monitoring

Follow message activity, delivery outcomes, bounces, suppressions and spam complaints from the dashboard.

1

Create Your Account

Create a Sendzovo account and sign in to the dashboard. The dashboard provides the tools for domains, message activity, verification, templates, webhooks, testing and billing.

2

Add a Sending Domain

Open Domains in your dashboard and add the domain that your application will use to send email.

After the domain is added, Sendzovo takes you to its setup screen where ownership and sending DNS can be configured.

Use a domain that you control. Your application's From address must belong to the sending domain associated with its sending credentials.
3

Verify the Domain and Configure DNS

Domain authentication establishes that you control the domain and configures the DNS records needed for authenticated sending.

Automatic DNS setup

Sendzovo checks the authoritative nameservers for your domain. When a supported DNS provider is detected, the dashboard can offer an automatic setup option.

Authorize the detected provider and Sendzovo can progress through ownership verification and the required sending DNS configuration. The setup screen shows progress until the domain is ready.

Manual DNS setup

You can always configure DNS manually. Copy the Host and Value shown by Sendzovo into your DNS provider exactly as displayed, then return to Sendzovo and choose Check ownership or Check / Continue setup.

  • Verify domain ownership
  • Configure the displayed SPF record
  • Configure the displayed DKIM record
  • Configure the displayed Return-Path record
  • Wait for Sendzovo to verify the records
DNS changes can require time to become visible through public DNS. If automatic setup pauses, the dashboard can offer retry or reconnection options. Manual setup remains available.
4

Create and Save Sending Credentials

Once your domain is ready, use either a Sending API key or SMTP credentials to connect your application.

Sending API

POST https://api.sendzovo.com/v1/messages Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SENDING_API_KEY

SMTP

Host: smtp.sendzovo.com Port: 587 Security: STARTTLS Authentication: Required
Copy newly generated secrets when Sendzovo displays them and store them securely. Do not place API keys or SMTP passwords in public source code or client-side JavaScript.
5

Organize Email With Message Streams

Message Streams let you organize sending within a domain. Streams can have their own sending credentials, activity and analytics, making it easier to separate different application or transactional workloads.

6

Send Your First Transactional Email

Choose the integration method that best fits your application. Existing applications can usually use SMTP, while new integrations may prefer the REST API.

Email API

POST https://api.sendzovo.com/v1/messages Authorization: Bearer YOUR_SENDING_API_KEY

SMTP

smtp.sendzovo.com:587 STARTTLS

For request fields, code examples and detailed integration information, use the Developer Documentation.

7

Use Email Verification

Sendzovo includes email verification tools for checking recipient addresses. Verification API credentials are separate from your Sending API keys.

GET https://api.sendzovo.com/v1/verifyEmail?email=user@example.com Authorization: Bearer YOUR_VERIFICATION_API_KEY

A detailed verification endpoint is also available at /v1/verifyEmailDetailed. Manage Verification API keys from the Email Verification area of your account.

8

Create Reusable Email Templates

Use Templates & Layouts to build reusable transactional email content. Templates help keep common messages consistent while allowing application data to be inserted dynamically.

9

Monitor Email Activity and Delivery

Use Email Activity and domain analytics to follow messages after submission. Sendzovo records recipient-level processing and delivery outcomes so you can investigate individual messages as well as broader sending performance.

  • Review delivered messages
  • Investigate soft bounces
  • Identify hard bounces
  • Review verification failures
  • Monitor domain and stream activity
10

Manage Suppressions and Complaints

Use the Suppressions and Spam Complaints areas to understand addresses that should not continue receiving email and to protect sender reputation.

Delivery Health provides another view of sending quality and helps you identify issues that may require attention.

11

Configure Customer Webhooks

Webhooks let your application receive Sendzovo events without repeatedly polling the dashboard. Add and manage webhook endpoints from the Developer section of your account.

Your webhook endpoint should use HTTPS, return successful responses promptly and process incoming events idempotently.
12

Test Before Production Sending

Use Sendzovo's testing tools to confirm that your domain, credentials and integration work as expected before moving application traffic to production.

  • Confirm the sending domain shows Ready
  • Store your credentials securely
  • Send a controlled test message
  • Confirm the message appears in Email Activity
  • Check the final recipient delivery outcome
  • Configure webhooks if your application needs event callbacks
13

Choose and Manage Your Plan

Use the Billing area to view available plans, your billing history and other billing options enabled for your account. Your dashboard shows the features currently available to you.
